The first electric car charging station in Lithuania

The first electric car charging station in Lithuania to comply with all European standards was put into operation on Friday. The station was installed by the Lithuanian company Elinta and rented to Kaunas district municipality (KDM) for a symbolic price of 1 litas. In addition, the charging station was installed on the KDM building on Savanorių prospect.

KDM oblidged itself to cover electricity costs which may increase up to 50 litas per month. The first station is experimental and it will be tested for several months. If the need exists, its location will be equipped with a batch station. Also the company will allow KDM to use the electric car converted to an electric car Toyota Aygo for a couple of weeks.

This car with fully charged batteries can drive off about 160 km. Batteries are fully charged in 8 hours, while the car can develop the speed of 150 km/h.

“Under the EU plans, half of the city must be driven by electric engines by 2030. This station installation is the first step to the implementation of the plan”, - as said by Laurynas Jokužis, Board Chairman of the Lithuanian Association for Electric cars. The first electric car charging station was put into operation in Kaunas.
